Workshops
Yoga Therapy
“Seeing & Understanding from the Base” is a seven part course that mirrors Guruji’s learning schema of beginning from the see-able observable outer form, through to the more subtle aspects of the mind and senses of perception.
This training is invaluable for teachers and trainee teachers to help them understand how to work with students with common issues and for experienced practitioners looking to deepen their practice and understanding of yoga.
The study begins at the already established base of the students own practice. Stephanie will then introduce participants to adaptions, modifications, and props that with assist participants with their own practice and for teachers / trainees assist students who attend their classes with commonly occurring problems and conditions.
Further details about these workshops can be found on the Marrickville Yoga website.

In this 4-part series, Stephanie Quirk explores in detail how the Trestle can be used for the many purposes it is suitable for. A thoughtful and guided explanation of how to use the Trestle.
We hold a picture of “restoratives” as being supine poses done quietly for a period of time. They rest the body, quieten and calm the mind. Through restoratives, we regain poise and equanimity. We love it. But this magical process is not always easily attained. We may at times be even too tired to rest, to sleep. But if restoratives aren’t delivering freshness, nor bringing newness and bright enthusiasm we have come into a condition known as Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disorder. This condition encompasses “long-covid”, “chronic fatigue syndrome”, and “myalgic encephalomyelitis” (ME), it is the background of many other immune-based disorders. This form of fatigue is as difficult to live with as it is to alleviate. In the programme 'RECOVER' it is this situation that we will address through an understanding of the yoga applications.
The first of a 2 part series about how we breathe, in life, in asana, in pranayama and in distress. Yes there will be reference to covid and Long Covid. But it is part of a larger picture. Technically svasaprasvasa means inhalation exhalation. In Ayurveda it means asthma or "horrible breathing" - First let us explore the breath, how we breathe and do you know where you felt that breath?
"Guruji called the Rope work the celestial poses. They allow you the closest opportunity to experience the principle of akasha, just space. You are in free fall in space and saved, there is a line to save you a safety clause of sorts. I can remember him saying that if your backbend practice recedes regain the practice first using ropes. They don’t harm, they add space into the body, into the spine, into the mind." Comprises of a 5 part series - Part 1 Standing Poses, Part 2 Twists & Forward Bends, Part 3 Invesions, Part 4 Backbends & Part 5 Into a Deeper Space.
